Destiny It is believed that when baby is born, three demons called “Suđenice” are coming in the house and during the first three nights they create baby’s destiny.
The oldest sister (of “Suđenice”) is responsible for knitting using silver yarn. If the yarn is long, baby’s life will be long, if it is not, it will be short. While sitting and knitting, she decides how long someone’s life will be. But this is just the beginning of creating a destiny. Yarn has to be collected, what is the responsibility of the middle sister. While collecting and sorting it she creates someone’s destiny. When she finishes sorting, the youngest sister cut the yarn with scissors – and decides when and how someone will die.
“Suđenice” are merciful when people believe in them, call them and accept their decisions as a natural flow of life. All three of them are very alike; they are dressed equally in long white dresses, symbolizing unity of a body, soul and mind. Evil demons are dressed in black dresses. A man, in front of both good and evil demons, as imperfect human being, should be dressed in many parts. That’s the reason why babies are dressed only in cap and socks while they are waiting for the judgment of “Suđenice”.
Interception of what “Suđenice” are talking about is strongly forbidden. If someone hears what they told to the baby by chance, he or she won’t be punished even if they tell the secret to baby’s parents. The power of “Suđenice” is very strong and no one is able to change what they decided. In the Balkan people used to leave the light turned on during the first three nights after a baby is born, and to put some vine and cookies on the table. These are presents for “Suđenice” who are expected to come. In the Old Testament many destinies are written, because there were many kings, priests and saints. Even the lowest in the hierarchy have their own destiny.
The God collected all the destinies on the Holy Cross and gave them to his Son – Jesus Christ. All our destinies are in Christ. It doesn’t matter who is doing what kind of job, all the destinies are defined before the world is created.
On the doomsday, there will be no talks about someone’s acts, nor personal fame or achievements. Instead of that, the question will be: Did you grown up in Christ? Did you allow the Holy Spirit to serve to the others, not to think about your wishes? How was your behavior inside your home and family?
Pitija from Delfi (a place that was visited by many famous people in ancient time) said that the glory of Macedonian monarchy would achieve its peak during the period of ruling of a king Filip but that it would collapse during another Filip, and that’s exactly what’s happened. The old Romans believed that the whole nations have its own destiny. They had a temple in which they were keeping the old books (Libri Sibilianae), protected by “kaluđerice Sibile”. Before the end of the dynasty, there was a committee represented by six of “kaluđerice” and six senators.
All the nations believe in its destiny. The only difference is that they call it differently. If there is nothing true in that believing, probably there will be no millions of people around the world who believe in it.
What is our destiny we can’t know because our intellect doesn’t allow us to know that. Does the Heaven know it we don’t know. We are not allowed to know the heaven’s secrets. We cannot ask WHY? or HOW? A person is living until the specific day. When that day comes, a person has to leave this world. This is God’s secrets that stay. What the destiny brings, that’s the God’s will from Heaven.
That’s why our people say: there is no death without the doomsday.
